Congratulations to Andrew Pierre Hart, who has been commissioned by Whitechapel Gallery to create new work as part of its spring 2024 season, “Life is More Important Than Art”, a three-month, multi-disciplinary programme of exhibitions and events that explores the interface between art and everyday life and the role of the art institution at a time of uncertainty and change.
Hart's new installation will explore the everyday sonic exchanges in the local environment of Whitechapel and wide themes of City-living through a multi-media installation including painting, sound and moving image.
Hart is also the subject of Tiwani’s forthcoming Lagos exhibition: “The Listening Sweet III” will present new works by the artist in his first show in Sub-Saharan Africa. Stay tuned for more details, and in the meantime, head to Youtube to listen back to the artist in conversation with Ocean Baulcombe-Toppin and Rosemary Cronin at Tate Modern last month, discussing how artists are inspired by unseen forces, from new technology to x-rays and the creative subconscious
